The Restored Covenant Edition of the Book of Mormon was first published by the Zarahemla Research Foundation in 1999 to restore words from the original and printer's manuscripts that were either left out or changed. Due to improved imaging technology, it is now possible to read some words in both manuscripts which were illegible at the time of the initial publication of the RCE (1999). As a result, those words which are now legible in the manuscripts and were previously incorrectly published are being corrected in the 2023 edition. Because of errors and changes made to the publisher's manuscript after the 1830 edition was printed but before the 1837 edition was printed, the original manuscript is used unless it is unreadable or nonextant. Here is a list of the corrections made in the 2023 edition with images of the manuscript where each change was found. Click on each button to view the image. Included on this page are some of the changes made in the first edition of the RCE. Also included are interesting finds made while working on this project.
